Mary Schiotis, tLMHC, CADC
Mary is our Mental Health Counselor currently working in a nearby rural community school district and sees clients at the Cedar Rapids Office location. Mary is a Temporary Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor that sees all ages of individuals, couples, children (3 years +) and teens collaboratively. She has had rewarding experiences working with children with play therapy and AutPlay training, including neurodivergent individuals with different developmental needs, women and men with codependency or substance abuse concerns, couples in relationships, family members with concerns for loved ones, and in crisis counseling with those feeling like they’ve lost all hope. Mary has had training for crisis counseling with ASIST training and most frequently practices Rational Living Therapy, a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Her focus in practice is on getting to know you, hearing your story and being motivating and helpful towards you. She is optimistic and grateful as a mental health provider and looks for what people are doing well or healthy foundations to build upon and be supportive, in accordance with strength-based and wellness philosophies to work with clients towards their goals. Her objective is to understand you by being present and engaged, giving honest information and feedback and by use of clear and reassuring communication.
