Katie Carreno, MA, CMHC
Katie Carreno began her career at Life Connections through her internship program during the 2023-2024 academic year. During this time, she provided counseling services in the office, school-based settings, group-based modalities, and in retirement facilities. Katie is now a Master’s Level Therapist in the state of Iowa serving the Dubuque office both in-person and via telehealth.
Katie began her education in the human services field while completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Dubuque. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice during this time. She completed her internship through Riverview Center where she worked with survivors of sexual assault. After graduation, Katie began working in the community as an HIV Health Educator with Hillcrest Family Services. During this time, she provided HIV/HCV/STD testing and education services to those in need. Shortly after, Katie began to pursue her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loras College. She completed her degree and graduated in May 2024.
Katie’s passion is working with those struggling with anxiety, depression, and lowered self-esteem, primarily ages 16+. Katie is here to meet people where they are at, in a safe, non-judgmental space. She utilizes a holistic approach that encompasses techniques from a variety of counseling theories to best fit clients individual needs.
