Shamika received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Iowa and earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. Her professional background includes years of experience in child welfare, where she supported families in navigating safety concerns, building stronger relationships, and connecting with community resources. This work shaped her passion for creating safe, nonjudgmental spaces where individuals, children, and families can explore challenges and discover solutions that foster growth and healing. Shamika has worked with children, adolescents, and adults facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, family conflict, life transitions, and the impacts of trauma.

As a trauma-informed therapist, Shamika recognizes the ways life experiences can shape thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Shamika strives to provide a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to move toward healing at their own pace. As a Mental Health Therapist at Life Connections, Shamika integrates compassion with evidence-based approaches to help clients identify strengths, develop coping skills, and create meaningful change. Shamika integrates elements from multiple therapeutic modalities to develop a collaborative treatment plan, tailored to each client’s unique needs, experiences, and goals.
